In light of the Charleston attack...

So, I'd first like to say, that my every condolence is with the family of Heather, who was horrifically killed at this attack. That kind of violence and evil, is something that unfortunately still exists in 2017, and which we must continue to quash, by educating and informing people from a young age that it is not okay to hate. The fact that this girl was killed in a political protest, should be a catalyst for us all, to go out and protest with them, to not leave these people alone to fight for everyone else's rights. We cannot let evil people like these white supremacists, scare young people away from fighting for what is right and what should be.

Equally however, I have seen many posts, that demand the infliction of violence upon these supremacists, and have seen many videos condoning the punching and beating of white supremacists in protest. If we comply to this norm, of hurting people when they don't agree with us, we become just as bad as them, by attacking those who attack us, we teach the people around us that it is okay to hate. I am a firm believer of the saying, an eye for an eye makes the world blind, and if we continue in the methods of these evil people, then the world will never learn to be peaceful with one another.

In order to change the way people thing, you must start at the bottom, teach children from a young age, and figure out the key things that influence young people and their decisions. For some, their parents play a huge part and it is very difficult to change the opinion of an adult, for others, a huge factor in the influence of opinion is the media, so perhaps if more diversity was introduced into today's media, then people would be more accepting of the integration between different races, religions and cultures.

I'm making this a short post, mainly because I have very little to say about this awful act of terror, but I just wanted to remind people to not follow in the footsteps of violence, because you do not help a problem, by creating a new one.
