Gordon Brown or Superman?

So, I've woken up this morning to find that the wonderful man that is Gordon Brown, former Labour PM, has come up with a plan that offers a 'third option' to Scottish voters, in light of Theresa May's second blocking of a Scottish independence referendum.

We all know about the 'war' between Scotland and Westminster, or more so Sturgeon and May. Nicola Sturgeon wants to make Scotland independent from the UK, but in 2012, she failed to win a majority when it came to the glorious referendum that she asked for. This time around however, she has called for a second referendum, after the decision and go ahead for Britain to leave the EU, which Scotland did not vote for, and effectively are being dragged out of, much like the other 48% of us. Now, this post isn't about Scotland, however wonderful the place may be, this is about my man, Gordon Brown, sweeping in to save the day as he did back in 2008 when Britain was on the verge of financial meltdown.

Now it seems that the man has done it again, with the UK on the literal verge of being broken up, diced and separated, Mr Brown has released a statement, or more so, a plan, explaining how things should be done. What is the one thing that Scotland lack in Westminster? Power. What does Gordon want to give them? Exactly that. The new plan calls for Holyrood to be given the ability to set VAT rates, sign international treaties, and regulate the environment, employment and energy.

Seriously though, the man has been looked down on for so long, given a bad press and practically ignored, but he is hella smart. This guy knows what he's talking about and what better way to make Scotland more involved with the UK, than to actually involve them in the decision making process, rather than shutting them out like Westminster have been doing for so long now. The leaving of the EU is something that we can't change or go back on now, no matter what the consequences, but what we can change and work on is our relationship with Scotland, and for that matter, our relations with Ireland and Wales too, because the last thing that this county needs, is to no longer be a united one.
